NIS student from Nur-Sultan has received a scholarship of New York University in Abu Dhabi
Albina Uvasheva, a 12th grade student at the Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Nur-Sultan, has received a full educational scholarship from New York University in Abu Dhabi (NYUAD).
Albina is one of the best, active students at the Intellectual School. In addition to her studies, she has been among the volunteers and participated in various charity projects. She was the leader of the school’s «Yoga and Pilates» club.
Albina, who is currently studying biology and chemistry in depth, dreams of becoming a future bio-engineer at NYUAD.
– When choosing universities, I considered three main criteria. The first is the higher education institution’s research capabilities. The second is the social life of the campus. And the third is the location of the university. The university I chose fully meets these criteria. NYUAD is technically well equipped, its students, starting from the first year, carry out research work on different topics. Furthermore, NYUAD is known for its active social life on campus. Its many recreational activities and diverse clubs have caught my attention. I love the thriving city of Abu Dhabi. Its climate and infrastructure are also great,- says the young intellectual.
According to the scholarship holder, she has heard a lot about the university from NIS IB alumni studying in Abu Dhabi. Her desire to attend NYUAD was so great that she did not even apply to other universities, waiting to hear back from NYUAD. One step closer to her dream, Albina plans to pursue a master’s and doctoral degree in bioengineering in the near future. She wants to become an expert in her field.
The NYUAD scholarship fully covers Albina’s tuition, living and travel costs as well as health insurance and textbooks. NYUAD has the highest entrance requirements in the world. Statistically, on average, only about 3% of applicants pass. The university, which first admitted its students in 2010, today trains engineering, humanities and science graduates. The university is ranked 26th in the Times Higher Education (THE), QS Graduate Employability Ranking-11 for graduate employability.
