«Eco Jeli» starts work

As part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a new network “Eco Jeli” was opened at the Intellectual School of International Baccalaureate in Nur-Sultan, which united all the NIS environmental clubs.

The first event of “Eco Jeli” was an online contest of start-up projects “ECOhack NIS”, dedicated to the global problems of our time – “Food. Water. Energy.”

Olga Mozhayeva, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools, emphasized that environmental problems are relevant today all over the world:

        – “The opening on the basis of Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools network of eco-clubs “Eco Jeli” and the start of the eco-hackathon “Water. Food. Energy” are significant events for us. We understand that environmental problems encompass all areas, they cannot be solved by one government or one organization. Only by working together can we change the world for the better.

A student of the International Baccalaureate Intellectual School and one of the initiators of the Eco Jeli, Sanim Zeyngabyl has been the official ecoambassador of the republic since October 2021:

– Our greatest achievement is to persevere towards our goal and make the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools Eco-Ambassador Network a success. I am sure that this initiative can be called a big step in the development of the ecological climate in the country. We are united because the main goal of “Eco Jeli” is to coordinate, systematize and improve the effectiveness of the eco-clubs through communication, exchange of experiences and joint organization of events.  We have one land, one country and one future, and we will grow together,” says Sanim.

On the first day of the hackathon, successful eco-activists and business-trainers Anna Gudarzi, who represents the ECO Network platform, and the creator of the Kazakhstani crowdfunding platform Start-time.kz Aziza Utegenova shared their tips on how to promote startups with small budgets and other aspects of environmental entrepreneurship during webinars.
