New Device Helping the Blind

Students of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Nur-Sultan presented an innovative method of teaching blind people “Jazgysh”.

Kim Ekaterina and Rysmakhanov Arman are 12th grade students. The young innovators were interested in the problem of teaching writing to the blind, because today it is relevant and, as we know, there are no effective solutions.

Braille cannot replace a normal letter at such moments when you need to write your name, surname and signature. Responding to this request, the team decided to try to solve this problem and created Jazgysh.

The principle of Jazgysh:

 First, the user holds the pen with which he moves the device and remembers the correct spelling of the letters. Then the user has to write the learned word himself with the help of the device stylus on the phone, and the program will sound out if the word is spelled correctly.

According to Kymbat Zhasulanovna, computer science teacher, the project manager, the students chose the topic of the project on their own, thinking about the problems of people with disabilities and conducted research, analyzed existing solutions, compared prices. They managed to create a solution, which is much cheaper than the presented analogues.

For their project children won III place in the competition of robotics “KazRoboProject-2021. The competition was organized by the Republican Public Association “Kazakhstan Federation of Educational and Sports Robotics “KazRobotics” and in partnership with the N. Nazarbayev Foundation.
