“Tugan elge tagzym”

In 2012, Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools launched its own patriotic project, the «Tugan elge tagzym» local history research expeditions. The project was developed by Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools, an autonomous educational organization, and is designed to form students’ interest in their native country and strengthen their sense of patriotism. A special feature of the educational trips is the exchanges between Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools to learn about and conduct research in the regions of Kazakhstan. As part of the project, the expedition teams visit almost all regions of the country, exploring their flora and fauna, memorable sites, historical significance, culture, innovative facilities, architectural structures and much more.

The expeditions involve a group of Year 7, 8, 9 and 10 pupils from each Intellectual School, selected for their academic, creative, sporting and other achievements.

Such expeditions are completely result-oriented. Pupils of Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools after the expedition have a number of skills and abilities that include knowledge, awareness of the region being studied (its past, present and future), research and interviewing skills, selection of materials to be used in practice, communication skills, group interaction, physical and psychological endurance, experience in making independent decisions and actions.

The conduct of research local history expeditions “Tugan elge tagzim” has become a tradition. Next year, young researchers, the best pupils of Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools, will again embark on exciting journeys to the most picturesque and unique corners of their native country.
