А seminar for teachers of comprehensive schools

On January 30, 2021 Nazarbayev Intellectual School in Nur-Sultan held a seminar for teachers of Kazakh language and literature, Russian language and literature of comprehensive schools.

      A total of 177 teachers took part in the seminar on the theme “Development of functional literacy through  various texts – the basis for the formation of creative skills of students”. During the meeting the definition of functional literacy, its tasks were discussed and the work with various texts was carried out. Aigul Kassenova, NIS teacher and  education trainer, gave excerpts from literary works and discussed with the participants the issues raised in the text, the author’s views of the problems, the characters, and tasks that encourage students to think critically and independently.

      At the end of the meeting the teachers of the comprehensive schools told that they have difficulties in working with fiction texts, in making tasks for them. The teachers also note that the seminar held by the capital NIS will help in solving this problem and various methods and useful information were presented. The school teachers hope that webinars on this topic will be held in the future.
